FAQs
How do I pair my GoPro cameras to the RemoteGP?
Pairing a camera to the Apture RemoteGP is quick and easy. On the camera-side the process is the same as pairing to the GoPro Quik App. Please refer to the RemoteGP User Manual or Quick Start Guide for instructions on enabling pairing mode in the RemoteGP.
Can the RemoteGP wake my GoPro camera from sleep mode?
With Apture SmartStart, the RemoteGP can wake your camera (excluding the GoPro HERO) from sleep mode.
Ensure Wireless Connections are enabled in your GoPro camera’s settings. This allows the Apture RemoteGP to connect to the camera when it is in sleep mode. Once enabled, the wireless connections will remain active unless one of the following conditions occurs:
- The camera has been in sleep mode for longer than 8 hours
- The cameras’s internal battery is replaced
- USB power is removed during the time the camera is in sleep mode
The RemoteGP cannot connect to a camera if the camera’s wireless connections have been turned off. To switch a camera’s wireless connections back on, do one of the following actions:
- Manually turn the camera on using its power button
- Connect USB power to the camera (this wakes up the wireless connections without the camera exiting sleep mode)
It’s recommended to double-check your RemoteGP can connect to all cameras; at the start of an event, after pairing a camera, after replacing a battery, or after your cameras have been asleep for longer than 8hrs. This will ensure the RemoteGP is ready to go when you need it.
How do I start and stop recording with the RemoteGP?
The Apture RemoteGP has 3 ways to start and stop a camera recording:
- Configuration button (blue button on the RemoteGP)
- External switch (momentary or latching)
- CAN bus
You can enable or disable these inputs to suit your installation. By default the RemoteGP is configured to use the configuration button and a momentary external switch.
What camera feedback does the RemoteGP give me?
One area where the Apture RemoteGP excels over other GoPro controllers is the simple, yet powerful, user feedback. We’ve aimed to eliminate any doubt around the status of your GoPro cameras – so you know they’re ready to go when you need it.
The RemoteGP has 3 RGB LEDs (one per camera) that give you an visual indication on each camera’s status. At the basic-level, the RemoteGP will tell you if your cameras are connected and ready to record, or if there is a critical error (for example, you forgot to install an SD card). With camera-independent warnings, you can go one step further and be notified when events such as low battery, over-temperature or a disconnected intercom cable occur.
For the ultimate integration with your vehicle, the RemoteGP can broadcast all camera information via CAN to be utilised by a driver display.
